Abstract

The failure was investigated of a dissimilar welded joint in the structure of an electric transmission line. Welded Joint, practiced progressive failure is being introduced into the structure in the electric transmission line. 3-D model is developed in ANSYS by given Boundary condition. FE models are establishing for the failure analysis of dissimilar welded joints. Using this failure analysis method, we identifying the selection of which is the best combination of dissimilar models for the application of structure in electric transmission lines. The grain size, orientation, and boundary mismatch are using Electronic Back-Scattered Diffraction (EBSD) analysis. The characterization of the microstructure is examining with the help of fractography analysis, the Energy Diffraction Scattered (EDS) method, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The tensile test is carried out for dissimilar welding joints (MS-SS, MS-GI, and SS-GI). After experimental analysis, it is found that, the MS-SS welded joint is much stronger than MS-GI and SS-GI.
